Mary E. Chambers, 80, of Clark, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Golden Living Center of Clark.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Clark Assembly of God church with Pastor Kevin Petersen officiating.
Mary was born in Pana, Illinois on January 25, 1929 to Charles and Neva (Hughes) Green. She grew up in Pana with her grandparents until she moved to Wyoming with her mother and step-father. Mary traveled during her younger years by living and working in California, Texas, Louisiana, Missouri and Montana.
She married Glen Elwood in Reno, NV in 1953. They moved to South Dakota in 1976 and purchased the bar in Henry and named it “LK’s Bar”. Glen died on February 20, 1981. Mary worked as a laborer for the potato factory in Clark and Quadee in Watertown until her retirement in 1984. She moved back and forth between South Dakota and Kentucky until 2004. Mary enjoyed fishing, camping and puzzles. She was willing to help out anyone that needed it.
Mary is survived by her children, Anna (Norman) Schmahl of Raymond, Lowanda (Simmie) Morris of Kentucky, David (Rita) Lay of Boise, ID and Ramona (Terry) Aldridge of Florida; sixteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lilea Stewart of Paradise, CA and Eileen Isabelle of Casper, WY.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen and a sister Charlotte.
